Question:
I wont explain all about me as Im on here already.Today has been awful
so anxious dont know why.Had my heart checked again yesterday blood
work and EKG all was fine Now today so dizzy feel like i cant
brethe,Had 3 xanax already,pharamist says says take more,other people
tell me Xanax causes dizziness.
Answer:
Xanax or any benzo has the downside that you develop a tolerance ( and
dependence ) to the drug. Taking 2 mg's 4 times a day is the recommended
maximum does. But after a while at 2mg the effect will be about the same as
staying on 1mg, because you have developed a tolerance to 2 mg does. ( I
hope that made sense ). I was on 8mg a day but cut back to 1.5mg's 3 times a
day and get roughly the same effect
Feeling dizzy, heart pounding, and feeling like you cant breath are all
normal anxiety symptoms. Taking more Xanax is more likely to make you feel
sleepy than dizzy.
Advice.. I would save the Xanax for when you really need it ( I know its
hard if your having panic attacks every day )... because after a while if
you take it everyday you will probably still have anxiety / panic , the
Xanax wont work anymore, and you'll also be dependant on the Xanax.
Work on your CBT and try and figure you what's causing your anxiety.
Free CBT can be done on http://moodgym.anu.edu.au/
I am in the exact same boat as you. I've been suffering from terrible
dizziness and today has been another awful dizzy day.
I've been for blood tests and had check-ups by an ENT and neurologist and
all tests proved negative. My GP and pdoc are convinced the dizziness is
anxiety related but it's driving me absolutely crazy.
I am on Klonopin and my pharmacist has told me that this can cause dizziness
after prolonged use. I am switching over to Xanax to see if that will help
a bit. A few people have posted that dizziness is normal and one should
accept it. I've been for CBT but it hasn't helped for the chronic
dizziness. I am also sensitive to ADs so hopefully the Xanax will work.
This is really a terrible thing to have and I really hope that we find a
"cure" between the two of us.
