Question:
Lately I have been experiencing a lot of dizziness. Actually two kinds of
dizziness.
There were a few days there when I would wake up in the morning, open my
eyes, and the room would be spinning around. I closed my eyes, waited
awhile, opened them again, and the room was still spinning. Bending,
stooping, any sudden moves would seem to bring it on also. Then there is
the second kind of dizziness - i usually have a dull headache (can be on one
side of the head -top of the head -entire head -seems to vary), and just
feel off balance, out of sorts, not very coordinated, hard to concentrate.
Do any others with FMS also experience dizziness like I described?
If so, have you found any causes or cures for the dizziness?
Answer:
I have definately experienced the dizziness and I know that plenty of
others have too. I can't say that anything helped at all. I just had to wait it out. And I'll tell you it was awful becuase mine lasted for a full month. Good luck and I hope you're feeling better soon.
Yes, dizziness can be involved. However, you should have it checked out to
make sure there's nothing else going on.
Well, that's pretty much how mine began over a year ago. Luckily, it didn't
make me nauseous as some get. Also, it has diminished in frequency.
However, I still get the mild stuff at least every other day. Big episodes
don't happen every day...usually a couple days apart. But I have to pull
over if I'm driving. Yes, I still work and drive. The Neurologist would
only give me Family Leave Act for this problem, even though at the time I
was driving 120 miles per day round trip. Very scary! Saw my family doc,
an ENT and a Neurologist about this. Amazingly, when I saw a
Rheumatologist, he didn't even know about the dizziness when he told me FMS.
Have battled the dizziness for years, and for me there have been several
causes. In the beginning, my blood sugar levels were low, so the doc thought
it was low blood sugar. Then I was diagnosed with TMJ, which was pretty bad -
that symptom improved after surgery, but it still resurfaces. Also, allergies,
especially food and chemical allergies can cause dizziness. I'm real allergic
to sulfites now, and if I had a glass of wine tonight, I would be spinning all
day tomorrow.
Ginger is supposed to help with dizziness - there is also an over the counter
drug I keep with me at all times called Meclazine - it's the equivilant of
Dramamine, only less expensive. Its been a life saver for me - if I start
feeling it come on, alot of times it will stop it.
