For Famvir, common side effects can include: Constipation, diarrhea,
dizziness, fatigue, fever, headache, nausea, vomiting. Important that
your doctor if you have kidney problems before prescribing this drug.
Zovirax (acyclovir) and Valtrex: abdominal pain, appetite loss,
constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, vomiting, nausea and
weakness. Same warning with this drug as with Famvir, if you have a
pre-existing kidney condition, make sure the prescribing doctor knows
about it. Valtrex can also interact with other drugs (talk to your
physician or pharacists).
Some on the ng here have reported having brittle hair while taking
Zovirax or Valtrex. The only side effect I've ever experience is dry
mouth.
Lucky for all of us, we now have three drugs to chose from, so if one
doesn't work well, perhaps another one will.
These drugs are quite safe and not everyone experiences side effects
while taking them.

I don't really have a leg to stand on because I've never tried any of
the herp drugs but geeeeeez ! Some of the side effects are worse than the
symptoms . I don't plan on taking any of those drugs either but rather ,
plan on trying the natural alternatives and changing my lifestyle instead .
I'm not saying they're no good , and I realize the side effects will vary
from person to person but I think that changing one's lifestyle is a much
healthier method and is what I'm shooting for .
Some of you will remember my posting about cigarettes , alcohol ,
insufficient sleep , ect . Well , I've made some progress since then . I
quit smoking ( has been almost 2 weeks now ) , have been eating a lot better
( some of that due to not smoking ) , and have been purposely trying to get
more sleep . I feel a lot better already and know that as I keep on learning
, I'll be able to develop a healthy lifestyle that will keep my immune
system and my body healthy & strong .
I realize that outbreaks will still happen from time to time but I
believe that they will be drastically reduced and I will benefit much more
from this than if I continued my current lifestyle and just took the drugs
for outbreaks .
The hardest thing for me to deal with lately is stress . I think I
will try that St. John's Wort for that pretty soon . I mean , yes ,
marijuana relieves stress 100% for me and I do benefit in certain other
ways from smoking it but ,,, and a big but ( no pun intended ) ,,,,, I do
not enjoy staying high all the time and I do not like getting too stoned to
function . There is a comfortable level in smoking it , you know , anything
can be overdone . OK , aside from the pot and the St. John's Wort , if
anyone knows any ways to rid stress please respond .
Well , I'm going out of town again . Better go take that " oh so
valuable " shower . Who knows when I'll get another one . Probably when it
rains . Oh , that's what sweat is for , to wash away all the dirt ! Ite
