Running and dizziness/fainting

Question:
I'm currently training in a major west coast fire department academy. PT (physical training) is a daily event which includes running laps combined with sets of push-ups and leg-lifts in between. Recently, after completing the event, I became very pale, sweaty (more than usual), light-headed and felt a sense of tunnel vision followed by a fainting spell. My diet intake has been decreased due to time as well as my sleep which I'm sure is a contributing factor. Does anyone have further insight into these symptoms and any remedies? I appreciate all your time and knowledge.

Answer:
Not too unusual. However if you have not had a checkup by a doctor knowing what you would be doing, now is the time to do it. In time as you body adjust to the conditions this will not happen, but for now watch it. Watch it especially as it not only effects your body, but your mind. With your mind not working very well you make bad dangerous decisions. I know this from personal experience. If you feel this coming on DON'T keep up the heavy activity. You will endanger yourself and others. Best of luck with your training. Might also just be a passing thing.. have a bit of a virus right now.. Don't notice in day to day routine much.. a little tired I suppose.. But when I workout I notice a bit of dizziness and early fatigue. Not bad enough to make me stop.. but enough of a pain to effect performance. I'm doing some easy weight lifting and taking it easy on the speed work and long distances. May even take a few days off... but I'm building up for a race on Nov. 18, and hate to taper until next week.
