Question:
I haven't posted on here for awhile. Right now I am on medication for
my arryrthmias. I really don't know if I have heart problems or
anxiety. Sometimes I think that I have both. I am on a beta blocker
right now. I still have a lot of PAC's and PVC's. The doctor doesn't
really know whats wrong with me either. I ended up in emergency a few
weeks back with my heart going nuts. The doctor said I had some atrial
fibrillations but he was also confused because my heart was beating
all over the place. Since that day I have been on medication. I
haven't had any dizziness but my heart still doesn't beat normal. Any
suggestions?
Answer:
Dizziness and heart palpitations are very common anxiety symptoms.
I suggest you get checked out by a cardiologist just to make sure there is
nothing wrong with your heart. If you aren`t using a psych doctor for your
anxiety, I suggest you find one that specializes in anxiety to be diagnosed
and treated.I'm going through the same thing! I've never had chest pain, palps, etc. as a
pa symptom, but lately, I've had pvcs coming anywhere from every 5 secs -2 min!
Also, my heart speeds up alot even when walking from one room to the other.
My cardiologist did a stress/echo test yesterday and i was barely on the
treadmill 3 min and my rate was up to 174. he said it did not make sense. Also,
about 12 palps showed up in just a few minutes, + he said my heart showed that
it constricts tighter than normal..harder? So he put me on a beta
blocker...Torpol? i think? What are you taking? I'm so scared to take it,
because my bp drops really low at times, plus i just hate the thought of
messing with my heart rythmn, kwim? He also said my body is releasing too much
adrenaline and the beta blockers would also help that...who knows...maybe it
will help the panic!! I'm taking atenolol 25mg. I am an anxious person and I have sort of a stressful job. I also have high cholesterol and sometimes I think that has something to do with my arrhythmias. I've been to the cardiologist a few times and he's said that I have arrhythmias. I really haven't been diagnosed with any condition besides having arrhythmias and
premature atrial contractions and premature ventricular contractions.
The problem is that when my heart starts to palpitate, sometimes I
start getting dizzy and almost pass out. This is usually a very scary
situation since my body flushes and my head feels as if it's going to
explode. This is the reason I am on the beta blocker. I know that
anxiety has something to do with my problem.
