Dizziness

Question:
I am 20 weeks pregnant w/ my 2nd child. For the last two night I have felt very dizzy while lying in bed at night. The first notice of this did happen while I was lying on my back (trying to feel the baby move and kick), but then also I have noticed it since while even lying on my left side. And actually last night it seemed to be worse than the first night. Every time I moved my head I felt really dizzy. Although, I know that my blood pressure is usually on the low side, it seems strange to me to feel dizzy while lying down -- aren't you usually SUPPOSED to lie down if you feel dizzy? Also, even though I do not typically sleep on my back because I know that the weight of the uterus can put too much pressure on blood flow, I DID sleep on my back throughout my first pregnancy (because I didn't know not to) and I never experienced dizziness. I will call my midwife this morning, but I think of all of you as such a great resource, that I wanted to hear from any of you who have experienced this also. Is there anything I can do to prevent the dizzies?

Answer:
I remember that I had slight dizziness while pregnant because of sinus congestion. Even now sometimes I'll get dizzy if I turn my head too fast while congested. My doctor told me that sudafed was okay to take during pregnancy. It helped somewhat but mostly I just had to suffer through it. However, some days were better than others. I had some dizziness when I was pregnant right around the same time. It did seem odd to feel it when I was laying down! After consulting with my OB and my GP, they felt that it wasn't pregnancy related, but something in the inner ear. It just went away naturally, but it is annoying.
