Question:
I am curious about California Screamin'. I tend to get motion
sickness. I can handle Star Tours (barely). Is the motion pretty ruff
in this one?
Answer:
I am prone to motion sickness, also, and never ride Star Tours any more, but
California Screaming is a blast. The ride is very smooth, very fast, and
I'd do it again and again.
I am very prone to motion sickness and did okay on California Screaming. The
motion of the "ride' is very smooth and minimal. The movie itself I'd equate
with watching Impressions de France in Epcot -- that kind of aerial footage.
I guess I'm in the minority here, but I have to admit that I *did*
get a bit motion sick on California Screamin'. I've got two sons who
insisted on riding it 4 or 5 times in a row, and I was a bit "woosy" after
the 3rd time or so.
One thing that helps me, though, is to request the front seat. For some
reason, being able to see the track coming makes it so it doesn't affect me
nearly as much!
I don't want to scare you or anything -- I still think it's a great ride,
and as others have said, it's *very* smooth!
I've been prone to motion sickness since I had a bad ear infection a few years
ago. Star Tours has been off my list for a while, even with the Dramamine.
Without Dramamine, I sometimes get a little sick after two rides on Screamin',
but with the medication, I can keep going. ;)
In comparison, I felt that Screamin' has the same intensity of RnR at WDW, but
a MUCH smoother ride.
