Advice on preventing seasickness

Question:
Leaving on the 20th on our first cruise and was wondering what advice anyone has to prevent getting sea sick. Is there any over the counter medicine that is effective?

Answer:
starting with the morning that I leave for the airport to get to the ship, and ending on t elast morning of the cruise (I get sick on planes too). Prevention is the best medicine - easier to avoid seasickness than it is to get rid of it once you're afflicted.
>Great for amusement park rides!!!! Most definitely. Already have my stock of little pink pills ready and waiting for my Disney vacation in November. Even helps on those motion-simulator rides. Bonine is EXTREMELY effective, and doesn't make you very drowsy like dramamine. Take one or two tablets, taken once a day. It's sold over the counter. The one thing you must understand though... it prevents, it doesn't cure once it's too late. You must take it before you sail. We take one tablet every morning at breakfast, beginning the day we sail. It even works on airline flights with turbulence.
